DESCRIPTION:
Today is the anniversary of the first meeting of the American Football League (AFL). This league was created by owners and in 1969 merged with the National Football League (NFL).
Among the conditions of the merger was that there should be a championship game between the two leagues and common drafts should be held. The championship game would eventually lead to one of the most popular events in the US and the world - the Super Bowl.
The National Football League was founded on August 20, 1920.
